About the Golf Course
Despite its name, The New Course at St Andrews is anything but new. Opened in 1895 and designed by Old Tom Morris, it offers a slightly more demanding and defined links challenge than its famous neighbour, The Old Course — while still delivering the unmistakable spirit of the Home of Golf.

Read more about The New Course - St Andrews Links
Created to ease pressure on The Old Course in the late 19th century, The New Course was built on prime links land immediately adjacent to its legendary sibling. What emerged is one of the most natural and visually striking links layouts in Scotland.
Compared to The Old Course, the New Course features narrower fairways, tighter driving lines, and deeper bunkering. The greens are smaller and more individually defined, demanding precision both from the tee and into the putting surfaces.
The routing weaves beautifully through rugged dunes and rolling terrain, offering spectacular views over St Andrews Bay. Wind plays a crucial role here — just as it does across all true Scottish links — making every round unique.
While it may not carry the same global fame as The Old Course, many golfers consider the New Course the more exacting test of pure ball-striking.
