Castlerock Golf Club Bann Course

The Bann links is a testing but fun 9 hole golf course with some spectacular views out onto the river Bann and over to Donegal. Don't let the fact that it is a 9 hole course fool you though as it is very testing course in its very own right.

On May 4th, 1900, a public meeting was held in the Pavilion, Castlerock for the purpose of considering the advisability of laying down golf links at the resort and of making the preliminary arrangements. The inauguration meeting of this prosperous club took place in the Pavilion on Tuesday afternoon of 16th April 1901. In 1906 the A.G.M. empowered the Council to enter negotiations for the leasing of extra land sufficient to provide an additional nine holes, thus making the course one of eighteen holes. The Formal Opening of the New Eighteen Hole Course was carried out by Sir Hervey and Lady Bruce on 15th July 1909 when the former drove the first ball from the first tee, in the presence of a large number of ladies and gentlemen and declared the new course open for play. Castlerock Golf Club is an award winning course and recently hosted the ISPS Handa, the Senior Amateur Home Internationals and is host the2026 Senior Irish Open Amateur Championship. The Bann Course nominated as best UK and Ireland short Course 2025 A main Translink train station 3 minutes’ walk from the golf club entrance, Castlerock Golf Club is Ideally located within easy access from Belfast and Derry/Londonderry by train.
