The Hamilton Island Golf Club is unique in that it is actually located on Dent Island, a rugged neighboring island in Australia’s Whitsundays. Designed by five-time British Open winner Peter Thomson and Ross Perrett, it is the only championship golf course in Australia located on its own private island.

The course is famous for its dramatic elevation changes, coastal ridges, and steep valleys. Because of its island setting, wind is a constant factor, making it one of the most challenging courses in Australia.

The Layout: The course is designed as two 9-hole loops that return to the clubhouse. The front nine winds through the island’s central valley, while the back nine is set along a high "razorback" ridge with panoramic views of the Coral Sea.

Signature Hole (14th): Known as the "Valley of Death," this par 3 requires a precise shot across a deep, vegetation-filled chasm to a green perched on a cliffside.

Technical Specs: The course uses TifEagle Bermuda grass on the greens and Greenlees Park Couch on the fairways, both chosen for their ability to thrive in a tropical maritime environment.
