About the Golf Course

Turnhouse Golf Club is located on the west side of Edinburgh, close to Edinburgh International Airport, two loops of 9 holes starting and finishing in front of the clubhouse.

Set across Lennie Hill, the course offers a magnificent 360 degree sweep of views to the Ochils to the the north, the River Forth and Fife beyond in the east, as well as offering excellent views of the Pentland Hills to the south, and the now grass covered shale bings of Broxburn in the west.

The Golf Course came into being in 1897, initially only nine holes, but was extended to eighteen in June 1900. The Club was originally known as Lothian Golf Club until April 27th 1909 when it was incorporated and renamed Turnhouse Golf Club Ltd.

James Braid redesigned the course in 1927, demonstrating his strong preference for strategically placed bunkers. The course was further reshaped and lengthened in 1950.

Today, Turnhouse Golf Club is one of the best kept and maintained courses in the area and offers golfers of all abilities, a challenging par 69 with a standard scratch rating of 70 over 6060 yards.
