Detailed Course Features Location & Layout: The course is situated on a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Rietvlei Lagoon, offering a classic "9-out, 9-in" layout. It is relatively flat with a sandy base, ensuring excellent drainage and year-round playability. Design & History: Originally a six-hole course from 1913, it was redesigned as an 18-hole course by Archie Tosh in 1925. A major reconstruction in 1995, led by Mark Muller of Golf Data, integrated the course into a residential estate while retaining its links character. Course Statistics: It is a Par-72 course, measuring approximately 6,101 meters (about 6,672 yards) from the tips. Fairways are Kikuyu grass, and the greens are a Poa/Bent mix, known for being quick and true. Challenges: The primary challenge is the strong south-easterly wind, known as the "Cape Doctor," which dramatically changes how the outward and inward nines play. Seven holes feature water hazards from the lagoon or wetlands, ready to catch errant shots. The course also features numerous deep bunkers and strategically undulating greens.
